The Portuguese Way

With its proximity to Portugal's haulage and heavenly highway, the IC2, I'm surprised Curia is not better known and used as a night-stay destination for pilgrims on the Camino De Santiago or Portuguese Way.

One notable, north-bound stage - detailed by www.pilgrim.es - is Coimbra to Mealhada, at a healthy 23 kms/16 miles. Another seven kilometres and you're into Curia, a quieter and more homely sibling compared to the next town south.

If you're heading South from Agueda to Mealhada, a 25 km yomp, you can stop short, and invest your saved seven kilometres, spending a pleasant and restful evening in our lovely town.

Biased as I am, I'd say it's worth the extra effort and shoe leather going north or see it as a little treat heading south.
